About Us
Loft holidays was established in 2020 with our signature property at Ard Gleann, a beautiful first floor apartment beside our own family home on a rural smallholding in the heart of the Ards Peninsula.
We then purchased and renovated The Loft, Cloughey towards the end of the pandemic and were delighted to have it ready for bookings just as tourism started to re-open.
Our third property, The Loft Cottage in Ballyhalbert is perhaps the jewel in the crown, a brand new property which we were able to put our own stamp on and it is very family orientated, sleeping up to six people and with the most amazing views across the Irish Sea, it is much admired by all our guests with many returning customers.
The Ards Peninsula and Strangford Lough are areas of outstanding beauty and fully deserve to be rated as some of the best places to visit in Northern Ireland. All of our properties are in close proximity to Kirkistown Race Track, Exploris Aquarium, Mount Stewart, Greyabbey, a Mecca for antique hunters and the home to the old Abbey, Donaghadee, Portaferry Ferry and a short hop across to Castleward where Game of Thrones was filmed.
We also have some of the finest restaurants in the area close by with The New Quays specialising in the freshest fish you can imagine as it is situated right beside Portavogie fishing harbour. The harbour is a tourist attraction in its own right and the perfect place to watch the seals swim about begging the local fishermen to share their catch with them. On the other side of the peninsula we have a more traditional bar and restaurant in the Saltwater Brig, perfect for a pint in the beer garden on a sunny afternoon or a lovely lunch or dinner.
There are also some other lovely restaurants and cafes all within a 15 minute drive from the properties.
I myself have a background in local tourism having worked for quite a few years in the local Visitor Information Centres both in Portaferry and Newtownards. I hold my Welcome Host and Welcome Host plus certifications and appreciate what is required to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.
